Jack-o-Lanterns

Multi-tasking...eating a sucker while cleaning the pumpkin....
Both girls are old enough to carve their own pumpkins. Nice! Now I am finished when my pumpkin is carved.

 The finished products...

 And glowing at night....

Rachel's....
This pumpkin belongs to our foster child. I can't post pictures of her, but I figure I can post a picture of her pumpkin. She drew the face and I carved.
 Erin Joy's skull...
 And my witch....

(Both Erin Joy and I cheated and used a stencil...)
Now we are ready for Halloween night!

Fall Fun

I try to be positive about this time of year. I miss summer and the freedom from a regular schedule of going back to work as a teacher. I don't look forward to cold weather. I'm not fond of all the leaves the big leaf maple trees in our back yard produce which make raking a big job.

Here is my positive "I love fall list":

1. I love fall because of the beautiful colors
2. I love fall because of the opportunity of teaching my children about hard work when they help me rake leaves
3. I love fall because of fun Halloween parties and fun costumes
4. I love fall because leaves are fun to jump in and make great backgrounds for pictures of my beautiful girls
5. I love fall because I love Thanksgiving. I love a holiday dedicated to gratitude. I have so many things to be thankful for. I'm thankful for fall!
Erin Joy's job was to clean the trampoline.
Here are the beautiful maple trees that make such a mess in the yard...

The pile of leaves from the trampoline made a great place to jump.

The girls jumped in the leaves for quite some time.  This year has been reasonably dry. Usually the leaves in Western Washington are wet and soggy. Not this year. Dry leaves made for great playing. Fun!!

Prepared for two fun Halloween parties...

 Party with some neighborhood kids....

 Love the barfing pumkin...
The next party was at church. I had to help with the games so I didn't get many pictures. The kids had fun playing games and trunk-or-treating.

Santa was there!! There is Christmas stuff all over the stores so why not talk to Santa at a Halloween party??

Love the R2D2 Operation game! The kids had to get the candy out using metal tongs without setting the light/buzzer off. What a creative game made by the boy scouts!

I love Halloween! Sure hope we get our pumpkins carved soon....
