Signs of Spring

This is where Rachel slept until noon today after staying up all night at a school choir sing-in-sleep-over where of course nobody slept.  She didn't even make it into bed. Silly girl! She sure was grumpy when she woke up too. She wasn't sure if she'd make it through the night, but she had a blast and did fine.  She called me several times during the night. Once at 1:00 to tell me she forgot the case to her glasses and asked what she should do with her glasses.  I was awakened by another call at 2:00 to ask what she should do because she forgot her toothbrush. Another call at about 4:00 to tell me she loved me and missed me. Another call at 6:16 to ask where I was because I was supposed to pick her up at 6:00.  Ooops. That's what happens when your mom hasn't had enough sleep!

While Rachel slept, Erin Joy read books to her slippers, Bumble and Bee.

It was a beautiful spring day so we went to a park. I had my camera, but I also had a good book. I sat on the bench and read my book in the sun while the kids played so I didn't take any pictures.  Trust me...it was a beautiful day for playing in the park! We had ice cream too! Nice!!

We came home and were welcomed by the three youngest llamas that are owned by the family we are staying with while our housing situation is sorted out.  The llamas were excited that we had a bag of apples and made it very clear that they wanted some apples.

 The trees are blooming and the skunk cabbage is coming out! Yippee!!! Spring is finally here! I think a bird is building a nest in the tree by one of our windows too.  We are watching it closely.

 The girls discovered a swing on the property of the house we are staying at. Fun!!

 My favorite flower...daffodils!!! I couldn't resist buying some at the store today. They look so happy and yellow...just like the sun. Beautiful! I can't wait to go see the tulip and daffodil fields next month.

Singing in the Tub

I love listening to Erin Joy sing in the bathtub.  I recorded her by pointing the camera at the door so nobody will see her and she wouldn't know I was videotaping. Her singing makes me happy:)

Gymnastics with Carly Patterson (2004 Olympic Gold Medalist)

The girls had fun tumbling and jumping at the Children's Museum. Carly Patterson gave a little motivational speech and signed autographs.  I was disappointed she didn't do a cartwheel or something for us, but I guess she is no longer in her prime.  Imagine being too old for something at the age of 24.  She was really good in the 2004 Olympics.  We watched her 2004 Olympic performance on YouTube to prepare ourselves to meet her.  Our favorites were her beam and floor routine. I'm impressed!

Fourth Grade Science Fair

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

When you have a teacher/mom who happens to love Dr. Seuss, you have to put up with all sorts of crazy things for Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Here are some of the crazy Dr. Seuss things a teacher-who-loves-Dr. Seuss-mom might make you do:

1. Your mom might make you wear a Horton hat and take a picture next to an art project (thank-you to a fellow teacher who happens to have a Horton hat!)

(This cutie is the daughter of another teacher.  I'm glad she plays with my girls after/before school to keep them entertained.)

2. Your mother might make you read a great book by Dr. Seuss, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, and let you make Oobleck (it was actually gak...)

3. Your mother might let you create oil pastel Dr. Seuss characters.

4.  Your mother might take you to a birthday party at the library to decorate a cookie in Dr. Seuss' honor...

...play games and make Grinch masks...

...and get a Cat In the Hat diploma.

5.  Your mom might make you read another great Dr. Seuss book...

...and eat green eggs and ham.

6. Your mother might make you eat cake with a friend who happens to share Dr. Seuss' birthday. (I am so jealous, by the way. I wish my birthday was the same day as Dr. Seuss'. What a perfect day for a birthday!!)

7. And your mother might take you to a late night showing of "The Lorax" in 3-D with the friend who shares a great birthday with a great author. Opening night on Dr. Seuss' birthday! Perfect!
