Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year with a yummy dinner with friends.

We had a lot of fun in Chinatown today. We were a little disappointed that we missed the dragon, but we enjoyed the lion dancers and drummers.

These pancake fish things were really yummy.

Yummy dim sum with our Ward cousins...

Welcome Year of the Horse

I was so excited to see this crocus! We are having spring-like weather here and I'm not complaining. (I know the skiers aren't happy and we are concerned about a drought, but I'm still excited for spring...)

Anyway, last night we had a fun time at the Westminster Chapel welcoming in the lunar new year. I am so excited that it is the year of the horse. I served my mission in Taiwan 24 years ago in the year of the horse. I adopted Rachel 12 years ago in the year of the horse. This year of the horse is sure to be a good one!
Rachel was a magician's assistant.
Face-painting for all...

Games and activities....

And a movie of course....

Rachel's Band Concert

Rachel did a great job playing her flute in her 6th grade band. She was chosen to conduct one of the songs and she did a fabulous job!

Here is a video...I put the song she conducted first even though it wasn't first in the program.

Our MLK, Jr. Day Off of School Adventures

We wanted to go sledding today, but we had a hard time finding snow. There hasn't been much snow this year. We changed our sledding plans and went hiking instead. We were able to make it all the way to the ice caves before we found enough snow to justify a little bit of sledding.

It is so beautiful here. I love living in Western Washington.

And a movie of course...
