All the students were listening politely to the lecture except for Rachel. When she sees her mom with a camera, she knows to look and smile!!
The theme for the visit to the museum was "family traditions." The docent did a wonderful job of showing us pictures having to do the family traditions. One of the featured painters was Li Jin who painted a 65 foot long scroll featuring favorite food from his family. The calligraphy behind the food are recipes and comments about the food. This is a terrible picture of the painting. I just took a thumbnail off the museum's website to give you an idea of what the painting looked like.
The kids then colored their own scrolls with the instructions to focus on a family tradition. Rachel drew Christmas...complete with a fireplace. We don't have a fireplace. My scroll was full of vacation places we have been and the Great Wall of China. I have never been to the Great Wall of China, but hoping to go next summer.
Exhausted, Rachel fell asleep on the ride home. I did too! Nothing like a good nap after an eventful day!
