Swimming, Playing, and Enjoying the Sun!

We spent this last week swimming...

Playing in parks...
Hanging out at Jetty Island...

We arrived at Jetty Island at 8:15 in the morning to catch the 8:30 ferry to search for glass sea floats hidden on the island.  There were 200 floats hidden and 700 people on ferries between 8:30 and 10:30.  We waited at the front of the line for TWO hours before they would let us search for floats.  It's a good thing the kids were entertained by digging and playing in the sand.

When we were finally allowed to start digging on the beach, we dug furiously and never found a float. Shucks. Only 110 floats were found by the time we left the island. 4 of the floats found were last year's floats. We are going to Jetty Island again on Wednesday. Maybe we'll get lucky and find a float. Maybe we'll find the one grand prize float...a basketball sized float...it is still hidden somewhere...

Waiting to look for glass floats...

Digging for glass floats...

Monda was the only person in our group to find a float! She registered it and got a certificate and a bag. Nice job!!
We gave up on float finding and enjoyed the water.

Notice Mt. Baker in the background. What a beautiful mountain:)
Trying to get Rachel's picture with Mt. Baker barely visible in the background.
Too bad they didn't find a float in the big hole they dug!
What a beautiful day to play at the beach!

The girls built a house.
Our favorite picture stump...

We had fun at the art festival. Watching the glass-blowing was especially entertaining.

The girls created their own stamps.
Wood-block printing...
Making glass magnets...
More glass blowing...
Fun!! Sure wish summer could last forever. I'm really dreading school starting in two weeks.  I need to get my classroom ready soon. Shucks.
